Terms and source information

About these study packs

These independently created learning companions accompany the linked original videos. They are not official courses from, or endorsed by, the original creators, their institutions or HackerTube. The original videos and complete source transcripts are not included in the downloads.

The first five videos were selected by the recommendation score in HackerTube's data snapshot, with the source order retained for ties. The selection is not a ranking of YouTube views or a live trending chart.

Free launch access

The launch collection combines the original five videos and seven Karpathy videos, with eleven distinct videos in total. Each video page shows the materials currently available; planned materials are not presented as complete.

During the free launch offer, prepared English materials in this collection can be opened and downloaded without payment, email or sign-in. No end date has been set and no countdown is displayed. Files already downloaded remain subject to their applicable usage terms.

Existing paid orders retain their original access rules. The purchase, delivery and order provisions below apply to paid orders when checkout is enabled; they are not requirements for free access. Presentation materials currently contain a text outline rather than a fully designed PPTX.

Sources and attribution

HackerTube supplies the catalog and recommendation context. Video creators and publishers retain rights in their own materials. A catalog's data license does not grant ownership of the underlying videos or transcripts.

Catalog overviews and HN comments

Public video overviews, discussion context and comment-type labels come from the HackerTube data export dated 31 October 2026 and were produced with AI assistance in that source. HN comments retain the exported text and attribution; this site does not generate them as user reviews. The export includes up to 20 selected mentions per video, with text limited to 1,500 characters and links replaced by [VIDEO] or [LINK]. Counts describe this collection, not every HN comment or a live feed. Recommendation, reference, criticism and humor labels may be imperfect. Follow each HN source link for the original discussion and full context.

Content permissions

The How to Speak companion adapts Patrick Winston's MIT OpenCourseWare material and is distributed for noncommercial use under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Its questions and exercises are newly written. Preserve attribution, the license notice and the same-license requirements when sharing adaptations. This edition does not include permission to sell that companion.

Commercial permissions for the other source-dependent companions have not been established. Public access to a video or its presence in HackerTube does not by itself establish a commercial reuse license. A commercial edition requires a separate review of the applicable rights and permissions.

Learning content and formats

The English companions were written with AI assistance using the available captions. They include original practice examples, questions and explanations. Structure, calculations and source time ranges were checked; this is not a claim of expert review or frame-by-frame verification of each video. Consult the source when an explanation appears ambiguous.

The chip-manufacturing talk dates from 2012. Its historical figures and descriptions of then-current technology should not be treated as current industry specifications. Public-speaking advice is presented as practical guidance rather than a universal scientific rule.

The presentation download is an eight-slide text outline with presenter notes. It is not a fully designed PPTX. CSV files can be imported into Anki, which manages its own review schedule.

Progress, downloads and external playback

Quiz answers, edited cards and review dates are stored in this browser's local storage. They are not synchronized between devices. Clearing browser storage may remove them; export edited cards if you want a separate copy.

The original YouTube player loads when you choose to load the video. Playback and outbound links use the external provider's services and policies. Downloads contain the study companions, not copies of the source videos or complete transcripts.

Purchases, delivery and test mode

Each purchase unlocks the English learning pack for one video and content version at the price shown before checkout. A ready pack becomes available after server-side payment confirmation. A pack that is generated after purchase is added to the processing queue; the order page shows its current state and a completion email is queued when the files are ready.

Original video playback remains separate from the learning-pack purchase. Downloads include notes, questions and explanations, flashcards, PDF and a text presentation outline. A fully designed PPTX is not included.

An order access link can be used to return to your materials. Download links are short lived and can be requested again from an active paid order. You can request an access email from the original video page. Refunded or disputed payments no longer provide download access.

Generation and email notifications are processed separately. If an email is delayed, completed materials remain available on the order page. If generation cannot be completed after retries, contact the support address shown on the order for assistance or a refund request. A refund is only described as completed after payment-provider confirmation.

This local test edition uses explicitly marked test orders and a local email outbox. It does not collect money or send customer emails. Production checkout and email delivery remain inactive until the site configuration is completed.

Order information

The delivery email, order status and access records are stored on the service for order fulfillment, access recovery and support. Transactional messages do not enroll the buyer in marketing emails. PayPal handles payment details; this site does not store card numbers. Source captions and paid files are not served as public catalog resources.

Usage analytics

Talkshelf uses Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics for public page views, video play-button clicks and study-tool interactions. Site-defined events exclude purchase emails, order credentials, search text and edited flashcard content. Local previews do not send events to production analytics.
